Missouri: EX-JOPLIN COP CHARGED BUYING CHILD PORN FROM MAN WHO MADE IT

Ex-Joplin Police Officer Gary McKinney

Gary McKinney 43, worked as an officer for Joplin PD for seven (7) years.   He is being charged with receiving and distributing child pornography.  When the investigation into McKinney was being conducted they discovered that McKinney bought child pornography from a man who filmed himself having sex with a four year old girl.

Anthony Helsel

The man in the video who filmed himself having sex the four-year-old girl has been identified as Anthony Helsel, 31. Helsel is being charged with distributing and receiving child pornography over the internet as well as using a minor to produce child pornography. Helsel admitted to making child porn by recording and photographing himself sexually abusing a 4-year-old, according to court documents.  Helsel stated that he shared child porn images with other people using a messaging app called Kik. Apparently, Helsel told authorities that McKinney messaged him through the app and paid him $30 for photos of the four-year-old girl’s feet.
Upon further investigating Helsel’s phone they found that images of child porn were sent to McKinney as stated in the court documents and discovered that McKinney used another app called Telegram to buy and sell more images of child pornography.

Both Helsel and McKinney are appearing in court this week to answer to the charges brought against them.
