A 26-year-old Guatemalan woman was critically injured when she tried to illegally cross the border by San Ysidro Port of Entry. She crossed the border illegally with her two children ages 3 and 5 and was injured when she fell onto pieces of rebar.
We got in touch with a Border Patrol agent at the San Ysidro Port of Entry yesterday and here is her response to this question:
Explain to me what you expect to happen to this woman now that she is in hospital.
The eastern portion of the primary border fence flanking San Ysidro Port of Entry is undergoing construction. When they come through our borders they are made to feel entitled. Almost instantly upon her admission to the
Border Patrol Agent Responsehospital there will be immigration lawyers reaching out not only to help her claim asylum but probably sue us for “endangering” her. This is what we put up with daily. This sense of entitlement.

The woman fell onto razor wire and pieces of rebar. The rebar impaled her side and buttocks and is being treated at a San Diego medical facility. The Border Patrol Agents found her at around 8:30 pm on
Entering our country illegally, particularly over our walls, is not only dangerous, but also very foolish. This woman placed her own life and her children’s lives in peril. She could have easily died if not for the quick response by our agents and EMS.

The woman claimed she is not part of the caravan attempting to force their way through the US border and it is not known if she is intending to seek asylum according to various Border Patrol Agents.

On Social Media many are asking who is going to pay for her medical bills. Others are stating out of compassion she should be allowed to stay and others… just say things like this in response to the President’s tweets which make no sense at all.
