A complaint was filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Greathouse was arrested on Monday after the FBI searched his home, which is located half a block from an elementary school, and found the alleged child pornography on his computer. According to the complaint filed, he is being charged with receipt and distribution of child pornography.
Greathouse has had an initial hearing on Tuesday and on Monday a detention hearing will commence according to Special Agent Vicki Anderson the PIO for the FBI field office in Cleveland Ohio. According to the affidavit the last March, Geauga Sheriff’s OFfice contact the FBI about 30 video files that they downloaded while investigating a computer at an IP address traced to Greathouses’ home address.
On Monday Greathouse was advised of his rights and admitted to the investigators that he kept hundreds of videos on Gnutella Network, a peer sharing network, of juveniles engaged in sex acts. He also admitted that he knows that others had downloaded or accessed these files from his uploads of child pornography he shared. According to the affidavit, it indicates that the files had girls and boys that were either nude or engaged in sex acts with adults and other juveniles. Their ages ranged from 20 months until early puberty though Greathouse stated he preferred juvenile females between the ages of eight (8) and twelve (12).

Under federal law (18 U.S.C. 2252), it is a criminal offense to possess knowingly, manufacture, distribute, or access with intent to view child pornography. In a related statute (18 U.S.C. 2256), child pornography is defined as a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving minors. Under federal law, there is a mandatory minimum of 5 years imprisonment for receipt of child pornography, and Congress recently significantly increased the maximum prison sentence for child pornography crimes.
Under Ohio law, it is a crime to pander obscenity involving a minor (R.C. 2907.321); to pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor (R.C. 2907.322); or to use a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance (R.C. 2907.323). Depending on whether the offender’s involvement was limited to mere possession of the material, these offenses can range from 5th degree to 2nd-degree felonies, with maximum sentences ranging from 1 to 8 years imprisonment.
